Ayer acudí a la Fortaleza, una nueva tienda de Wargames aquí en Coruña y probé al fin el nuevo juego del creador de Frostgrave, Rangers of the Shadowdeep.
Yesterday I went to "La Fortaleza", a new wargames shop here in A Coruña and I finally tried the new game of Frostgrave's creator, Rangers of the Shadowdeep.
El juego es cooperativo (o solo, que se agradece que haya mas opciones en esta categoría) que usa un sistema que básicamente el mismo que Frostgrave.
It's a cooperative (or solo, wich is good to have since we have little offering in this category) that uses basically the same system as Frostgrave.
Los jugadores se hacen un ranger (aunque yo lo definiría como un aventurero mas que un ranger), usando varios puntos para subirse los atributos, tener mas puntos de reclutamiento y para comprar habilidades.
Players create a ranger (although I would say it's just an adventurer more than a ranger) using points to improve the atributes, getting more recruitment points and get skills.
Los personajes tienen los mismos atributos que un mago de Frostgrave pero en este juego se sustituye la magia por un sistema de habilidades y conjuros. Estas habilidades son cosas como hacer esquiva, un ataque poderoso etc y los conjuros son simples como acabar con no-muertos o encantar el arma. También tienen unas habilidades similares a las que se tendrían en un juego de rol y a veces hay que hacer chequeos para descubrir cosas en la partida.
Characters have the same atributes as a mage on Frostgrave but this game substitutes the magic with skills and sorceries. This skills are stuff like dodging, powerful attacks etc and sorceries are simple like undead purging or enchanting the weapon. They also have a set of skills similare to what you would have on a roleplaying game and sometimes on the game you have to make checks.
Es un juego magnífico para jugar con familiares, la pareja o amigos que no conozcan wargames debido a su naturaleza cooperativa y simple.
It's a wonderful game to play with family, the loved one of friends that don't know wargames because of it's simple and cooperative nature.
Ayer jugamos el primer escenario de la campaña, ahora os dejo un pequeño resumen de lo que ocurrió en la partida.
We played the first scenario of the campaign, I'll leave a small report of the game.
Hace menos de una semana de la desaparición de Lorenthia y la aparición de Shadowdeep pero en ese breve lapso parece que todo el mundo se ha vuelto loco. Reportes de criaturas extrañas y hombres malvados en capas merodean la frontera.
It has been less than a week since the destruction of Lorenthia and the appearance of the Shadow Deep but, in that time, the world has seemingly gone mad. Reports of strange creatures, and evil, robed men are flooding in from all along the new border.
Hace tres días un aventurero veterano llamado Aventine salió a comprobar los reportes de una villa cercana y no ha vuelto. Determinado a encontrarlo, Ernesto Mencía busca unos compañeros y sale para la villa.
Three days ago, a veteran ranger by the name of Aventine went out to investigate reports of an attack on a nearby village. He has not returned. Determined to find the missing ranger, Ernesto Mencía have gathered what companions you can and set off for the village.
Tan pronto como se entró en la villa, notó que algo se sentía extraño. No había sonido de animal o hombre, ningún movimiento salvo la brisa agitando suavemente las ramas de los árboles. Acercándose, pudo avistar los cuerpos en la tierra y la peste de la muerte.
As soon as you came within sight of the nameless village, you knew that something wasn’t right. There was no sound of man or animal, no movement except for the gentle swaying of the trees in the breeze. Closer in, you could see bodies lying in the dirt and smell the stench of death.
Sin impresionarse, se cubrió la cara y se adentró. Sea lo que fuere lo que ocurrió aquí, Ernesto estaba decidido a descubrirlo y si fuera posible, descubrir el destino de Aventine. Llegaron al centro de la villa cuando un horrible quejido se oyó por toda la villa...
Whatever happened here, it was your duty to try to discover the truth, and, if possible, determine the fate of Aventine. You had just reached the centre of the village, and were about to split up to search, when a horrible moaning sound came from all around.
Los compañeros se dispersaron por la villa para encontrar el origen del sonido, pero cuando quisieron darse cuenta, estaban rodeados por monstruos salidos de las peores pesadillas, unos cadáveres putrefactos capaces de moverse en una errática y espeluznante manera.
The companions spread out on the villa to find the sound's origin but inmediatly, without notice they were surrounded by monsters out of the worst nightmares, putrid corpses that were moving in a erratic and spooky manner.
Todo el mundo comenzó a actuar rápido y buscaron por la villa. En una esquina, Héctor el granuja encontró a una mujer sollozando, ligeramente herida y en shock tras ver tales horrores. La mujer le contó que era una superviviente de la masacre de la villa, unas ratas gigantes salvajes llegaron y mataron a los ciudadanos, los cuales se levantaron tras morir, deformados y comportándose como si no tuvieran alma, atacando todo lo que veían.
Everyone worked as fast as possible and searched the villa. In a corner of a building, Hector the rogue found a crying woman, slighty hurt and in shock after this horrific event. The woman told him she was a survivor of the villa's massacre, giant feral rats appeared and killed most of the villagers, wich got up after dying, deformed and behaving as if they didn't have a soul, attacking anything in sight.
Tras decir esto oyeron los horribles quejidos de estas criaturas, humanidad ya perdida por completo. Juanjo hizo honor a sus habilidades y acabó pronto con una de las bestias mientras Ernesto avanzaba a una de las casas.
After this they head the awful howls ofthe creatures, humanity lost already. Juanjo took a shot at one and put him down for good while Ernesto was going for one of the homes.
Hector decidió dejar a otro compañero con la mujer mientras ayudaba a Diego y su perro con las ratas que salieron de una de las pequeñas casas pero por desgracia llego tarde y el perro fue destrozado por las ratas, incluso Diego había recibido mordiscos.
Hector decided to leave another person with the woman while he aided Diego and his dog with rats that came out of one of the shacks but he got there too late, the dog lay down bitten to death, even Diego couldn't manage to not get bitten.
Intentaron combatirlas pero poco a poco fueron ganando terreno y las ratas acabaron con Diego, llevadas por su ferocidad. Tras acabar con ellas tras una ardua lucha, Héctor se encontró en el hogar el cuerpo de Aventine, prácticamente irreconocible debido a que las ratas trataron de comérselo.
They tried to fight them but little by little the rats got to Diego and killed him with ferocity. After finishing them with a ardous fight, Hector found Aventine's body on the shack, made almost rags due to the rats trying to eat him.
En otro de los hogares Laura encontró la espada de Aventine. Una vez encontraron lo suficiente, trataron de aguantar un rato en la villa. Hector y Juanjo se llevaron unas cuantas heridas cuando una de las aberraciones no muertas trató de llegar a la ciudadana pero por suerte consiguieron pararlo.
In another one of the shacks Laura found Aventine's sword. After they found enough clues they tried to hang a bit on the villa. Hector and Juanjo got some injuries after one of the undead aberrations tried to get to the citizen but they luckily stopped it.
Tras esto, la banda decidió huir y salir de la villa condenada de una vez...
After this they decided to flee from the villa once and for all...
